The Techno CFO – Jason Gonsalves puts IT ‘hobby’ to Strategic Use

On June 10 Cambridge Mercantile Group formally announced that Jason Gonsalves had been named the company’s first chief financial officer. But Gonsalves had actually joined the firm several weeks earlier, coming from the Bank of Montreal. Gonsalves’ appointment wasn’t intended to be a closely-guarded secret; it just worked out that way.

But the transition period allowed him to really get to know the firm and the challenges that he was inheriting. Cambridge Mercantile Group is a leading provider of global payments and currency risk management solutions. Exchange magazine had the opportunity to speak with Gonsalves about his mandates in the new role, and how his background in technology has given him a unique perspective as a financial executive.
