PR Specialist

We are looking for a high energy, highly adaptable and outgoing personality to lead a variety of PR initiatives for our accounts. This individual is results-driven and self-directed - fundamental qualities to all members of the team; able to catch whatever we may throw at them and run with it effectively. They can also be described as a team player with a strong ability to communicate clearly on all tasks and given expectations, particularly in the case of short deadlines. This person will bring creativity and results as they lead multiple PR accounts. B2B will be the focus on this role and this position will best fit someone who lives and breathes B2B discussions and not afraid to use their leadership skills to take their accounts to a new level of excellence.

Location: Vancouver, BC
Position Start Date: Immediately (Full-time; 6 month contract)

  1. Drive and lead PR accounts
  2. Research promotional opportunities for clients, as well as stats and evidence supporting press releases and pitch ideas, articles related to key client topics, reporter bios and publication background, etc.
  3. Monitor daily through google alerts all media pertinent to client business and report to account lead
  4. Design comprehensive media reports demonstrating Magnolia gathered PR results
  5. Compile media lists and editorial calendars via excel with the use of both Google and Cision efficiently
  6. Create media brief documents with detailed and insightful notes to prepare clients for interview appointments
  7. Write relevant and compelling press releases, byline articles and media pitches that include a strong hook
  8. Brainstorm and devise news angles and campaign ideas to grab media interest
  1. Bachelor’s degree or similar level certificate related to journalism, marketing, public relations and communications desired
  2. 2-3 years experience of communications and/or public relations preferred; prior experience working in an agency is an asset
  3. Keen interest and working experience in high technology, finance industry are assets
  4. Creative, analytical and personable skillset
  5. Experience in writing press releases, designing presentations through powerpoint and creating clean, concise documents in Microsoft word is useful
  6. Detailed eye in proofing and editing documents
  7. Strong oral and written communications skills
  8. Keen interest in current events and business issues an asset
